美國的樂透通常只有一個獎項，也就是頭獎，要贏得頭獎，所有的數字必須跟得獎的數字們一模一樣。

jackpot 本身的意思就是，在獎金一直累積的賭博或比賽 (e.g. 德州撲克、老虎機、賓果) 中所有的獎金，所以 hit/win the jackpot 就等於贏得頭獎，也就是唯一個獎項

中樂透頭獎 = hit the jackpot = win the jackpot
抽獎日期 = draw date
得獎的數字們 = winning numbers (e.g. 3 - 11 - 22 - 33 - 40 - 55)
樂透頭獎的大約獎金 = estimated jackpot

有些樂透還有別的獎項，例如對中幾個數字就贏得多少錢，就可以用以下說法:

如果你對中了五個數字，就贏得獎金20萬元 = $200,000 for 5 winning numbers
如果你對中了三個數字，就贏得獎金3千元 = $3,000 for 3 winning numbers

以上的情況跟台灣的發票兌獎的方式很類似，這些英文也可以使用。

如果樂透有頭獎、二獎、三獎等，就用以下英文:

樂透頭獎 = jackpot prize
樂透二獎/貳獎 = second prize
樂透三獎/參獎 = third prize
樂透四獎/肆獎 = fourth prize

贏得樂透四獎 = win fourth prize in the lotto
